Introduction To My Personal Diary

When I first went to Japan in Sept 2009, it was with a friend who knew all the right places to go to, plus, she knows the language as well. So, what did I do but follow like an eager little dog who had left the brains at home. I didn't need to be involved in the planning; she did it all. No need to figure out what sights to see, what to eat, which hotel to stay at... yup, I really went On Holiday.

We went on a free and easy trip to Hakodate, a city at the southern tip of Hokkaido, and I was expecting a busy city with millions of people, squashed like sardines in the subway trains, or endlessly queuing on the sidewalks. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are lots of wide, open spaces in the islands of Japan where not a soul could be seen for miles around. Where you could literally walk in the middle of a big road and not have a vehicle coming up to knock you over. Where shops closed and the lights went off at 7 pm. Everyone's probably in bed by then!

Well, I am going to Japan again, and this time, it would be to the city of cities; Tokyo. This time, I have to be involved in the planning of the itinerary. I am expecting millions of sardines this time, or worse. Also expecting to look and feel lost, especially in the biggest subway station in the world, the biggest fish market in the world, and the biggest... whatever else they have in Tokyo.

This blog: Tokyo Travelogue, is my personal diary of my travels in this land - an amazing journey to the land of the Rising Sun!
